Weight Loss Solved!
The key to solving any problem is to get as basic as possible. Simplify anything complex and the answers become easier to find. It seems so obvious to say that the key to weight loss is calories in verses calories out. But for weight control that’s it. Nothing else matters.
Talking about the kind of calories, when to consume them, how often and in what quantities per meal, is complicating the problem really. On a steady basis, you must consume fewer calories than your body burns to lose weight, and vice versa to gain. It’s that simple.
Having just returned from a two week break from weight lifting I step on the scales at home and find that I have gained 3 pounds. Does this surprise me? No, because I have been doing this muscle building thing for a long time. I get it. But it absolutely amazes me as to how many don’t. Upon telling people that I had gained 3 pounds most respondents said “but I thought you always ate healthy good for you foods?”
I do and I did. I also ate TOO MANY of them.
When you spend an average of 9 hours a week in the gym and you consume “x” amount of calories, if you stay away from this activity, and continue to consume the same quantity of calories, guess what? You gain weight. Doesn’t matter that all of my very, very good eating habits remained intact. I ate more than I consumed in energy, I gained weight. And because I WASN”T lifting, it was bad weight. Fat. Around my waist. If I didn’t already have a good amount of muscle mass already, I would have gained even more fat.
I could have eaten less of all the good healthy foods I was eating so as to not gain any weight, but I chose not to. I CHOSE NOT TO. It wasn’t anything other than me and my choices.
The point here is that you have to look at the big picture when it comes to your health and fitness. No one thing will make you either. Nor will 2 things or 3 things. To be TRULY fit, in shape and ultimately healthy and happy, you must do ALL things better. We are here to help you learn all these things.
Muscle building is a LIFESTYLE.
